This was originally posted by The Sonic Stadium-from NGamer's Sonic 4 interview:

“Sonic 4 will be split into three episodes, each containing four zones of three acts (and a boss) apiece.”

Do you think it's true?

I dunno, considering that this is the only interview that has confirmed this, and that it hasn't been officially said. Plus, no other site I can think of (aside from Sonic Retro) call is official.

Maybe, maybe not. All we know is it was true at the time. Sonic 4, as a project, is still in development, so anything could happen.

Maybe they'll respond to people disliking the short length of Episode 1 and give the next one 5 full sized zones instead of 4, who knows?

I've been hoping that would be the case. 3 episodes, 4 zones, that's about 12 full zones with 3 acts and a boss within each.

Seems reasonable to me.

Sounds like a pretty good amount to me. A good amount of levels to play and bosses to defeat. Only thing is, I really hope they're able to improve some stuff like the physics and level design in the next game. I liked Episode 1, but thought that could use some work here and there.

Either way, I think 3 episodes might be a good number and, if anything, will be the least amount of episodes. I'm looking forward as to what they're going to do with Episode 2.

I think Sonic 4 is a great idea that was badly executed. The premise of a modern-looking Sonic game that feels like a classic is very good in itself, but it's as though the staff is phoning it in. It should be released as a console game rather than wii-ware, because that's what a game with such a big title as "Sonic 4" deserves. And by the way, it being called 4 implies continuity, not recycling previous games. Because this is what it was: Green Hill, Casino Night, Labyrinth, Metropolis and Death Egg (the Sonic 2 version) re-used. And by the way, just because it's supposed to feel like a Mega Drive game, doesn't mean you have to make over-simplistic tunes. The music in these games lasted, what, 30 seconds before looping? More time should've been put into it.

I'm also against it being released in different episodes. They should've worked on a single solid game. It's all a shame because, like I said, it's a great idea. But it pains me to say that it's not a patch on Super Mario Brothers Wii (I have to assume both games aimed at appealing to old-school fans) and it doesn't help with the notion that Sonic is trailing behind the old plumber.

I doubt this is believable. It came out before Episode 1 and SEGA would've said how long it was to us if this was already told to the magazine back then.

if it costs 15 dollars/euro's again it'll be another sonic game i won't buy sadly. It's just that 4 zones in a 2d game that doesn't require a lot of resources is asking to much with a 15 dollar price tag, especially when comparing to what you can get for lower price around XBLA and PSN.

Basically, add more zones or lower the price tag

Every installment will probably be the same size. If it is the case 12 zones is more than enough, I mean Sonic3&K had only 13 and Hidden Palace and Sky Sanctuary were only 1 act long.

In regards to will it actually be continued? Who knows I don't recall seeing any confirmation recently that it is still being worked on and with Generations this year episode 2 is most unlikely. I'm not sure what the overall reaction to Sonic 4 was but I hope it hasn't scared Sega and Sonic Team out of carrying it on. They just need to have some original levels and to use Metal Sonic wisely in Episode 2.

God talking about this game as episodes makes it feel like Star Wars. Well if that is the case then The Phantom Menace is over so it will be all right from now on.

lol so Sonic 4 is going to be shorter than the full version of Sonic 3 (aka Sonic 3 & Knuckles) if they actually release future episodes.

Considering how LOL Sonic 4 is, I wouldn't be surprised if they just cancelled it altogether (and I would be pretty glad too).
