Scariest moment ever?

Title says all. Name a moment from a movie, tv show, video game, book, or anything from pop culture that really scared the crap out of you.

I was listening to my iPod while laying in bed half asleep at 3 am.

For some reason it sounded like it was coming from outside. I dunno, it freaked me the living fuck out.

Another time I saw a roach in my bathroom.

That was pretty scary.

That one time when I almost drowned.

...That OTHER time when I almost drowned.

That time I busted my head open that I vaguely remember because I was 4.

The OTHER time I got a head injury *a smaller one but I was bleeding like niagara falls* when I was 8.

And...um...

When I first started driving. That's some scary stuff. May think of other stuff later.

The Rape Scene from a Clockwork Orange

I saw this movie when I was 13 and I vowed never to watch it again after I saw this seen. In this scene Alex savagely rapes an elderly woman while singing "singing in the rain". Hell, this scene is the ultimate reason why I refused to see "For Colored Girls" when I found out there was a rape scene in it. I just wasn't going to go through the trauma of seeing somebody get raped on screen ever again.

"Return the Slab" from Courage the Cowardly Dog

Remember that episode where Courage and his family had an ancient tablet and they kept getting cursed by a mummy. To me this episode was a perfect combination of scary and funny. It was funny because of all the curses getting laid on the family (including the memorable King Ramses song). And it was scary because of the mummy. Ok, it was more along the lines of "creepy", but his design and the way he's animated always creeped me out a bit.

Just so you know this topic has to do with scary moments from popular culture. Not from personal experiences. Let's try to stay on topic.

When I first met the Flood in Halo 2. I was, like, eight. I was the Arbiter. Them damn things were climbing up the elevator shaft, what the hell was I supposed to do?

Also, the first time I played Metroid Prime. The first room was full of corpses...

The first time I ran through Ravenholm in Half-Life 2. Them damn fast zombies.

"Nowhere" in the original Silent Hill is one of the most mysterious, disturbing, and creepy moments in the horror classic and really captured a spirit of dread not many games have met. Throughout the whole game weird shit has been going on, but it is here where the game begins to reach it's climax and we are confronted with some of the most haunting yet beautiful music tracks in the whole entire game, very disturbing and difficult enemies, including black shadows that scream and invisible stalkers, as well as one of the characters you've been seeing throughout the game acting weird as fuck. This scene is one of the most memorable climaxes for a game I have ever seen and it went in a completely different direction than most, bringing forth one of the most haunting and memorable moments in gaming I have ever experienced.

Silent Hill 4 also had some deliciously creepy stuff.

Resident_Evil_Directors_Cut_3.jpg

Resident Evil, the remake available for Gamecube (known as Resident Evil simply) and Wii (known as Resident Evil Archives) is also one of the scariest games I have ever played, as it has a fantastic sense of atmosphere and isolation. My favorite moments are the basement of the mansion, the garden, the caves, and the Aqua Ring, however.

Amnesia's been mentioned, but I bet less of you have heard of this game...

WhiteDay is one of the scariest games to ever exist, no joke. It's graphics are a bit outdated and it is REALLY hard to find, but this is one of the scariest games that has ever existed. That scene above is just one of the early scares, and it gets MUCH worse.

I will throw out more later, I love scary things. <3

This video haunted my childhood. That character is very unsettling! Its basically the only time I've been legitimately scared while watching a TV show.

When I had to be sent away to science camp and everyone was perky. I felt like Wednesday Addams in Addams Family Values when all the perky people were trying to get her to smile - yeah scariest moment of my life.

Well, when I first played the game Blood it was a bit scary, specially a room that I entered where the lights started failing and you could hear whispers

I don't really watch horror or play scary games much, so here's a particular one:

Kill Bill Volume 2. Buried alive scene. NEVER want to watch that again. Was probably like 1 minute of just pitch black and her screaming banging against the coffin, felt like half an hour. Ughghghghghgh horrible.

Watch up to 0:48

That donkey scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

Everyone's leaving, getting their stuff, turning off the lights, then, just as your about to walk out the door, it neighs at YOU. The lifeless donkey. Then, when you do walk out the door, it winks. YOU KNOW IT'S GONNA RAPE YOUR SHIT.

And AGAIN at 2:03!

Now that I look at it again, even Barney looks kinda creepy.

Sandopolis Zone - Act 2.

Also watching Chucky and the Terminator as a kid gave me a phobia of robots and talking dolls that I didn't get over until I was 10.

REALLY scary faces are for me HONF and/or crank my paranoia levels to 11. One such logo that used to scare me was the Klasky Csupo Robot logo.

The moving statue from Red Rose (the miniseries on DVD) at the pool also scared me when I was little. Especially when it took it's face off and opened it's eyes.

The only times I can really remember being genuinely scared are in these games: Siren Blood Curse, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Metroid Fusion, Luigi's Mansion (though I was ten for that last one.) It's not that I'm macho, I just haven't seen a lot of scary things.

The Newborn porn scene in "A Serbian Movie" : I ain't shitting you, about 10 minutes into this film, the guy the story follows is about to quit his job of being a porn star, and his boss tries to keep him on by showing what the porn industry has to over in the future, so he shows him a pre-recorded video of a women giving birth, then this guy comes up, masked and all that jazz and starts raping the newborn, I found it gross, sick, revolting, and the scariest thing to experience in a movie (despite being a well known movie for being traumatizing).

So yeah....never watched it since (whereas I know people who watch it regularly).

EDIT: Also the "Blink" Episode from Doctor Who with the Weeping Angels, I found it scary yet potential for a good horror film.

This movie freaked me out because of two reasons. One when I saw it, it was just plain scary and creepy to me.

The other time is when I fell asleep in my room, My bro snuck in, put the movie in the dvd player, skipped to when the girl is coming out the tv, and zoomed in so it looked like she was coming out my tv. I woke up, saw she what looked like she was coming for me, and screamed like a little girl.

Pinocchio. The part where the kids turned into Donkeys. I saw this movie on Christmas day years ago and I cried and cried in horror. Damn that movie. I can't look at it without shivers going down my spine (never actually looked at it again in fear.)

Can't believe nobody mentionned that yet.

NESS... IT HURTS...

Also, playing Super Paper Mario and hearing this:

... in the bed of a river in Hell made out of tears from frustrated players (lulz), with weird white hands trying to reach for you.

And the beta version of Lavender Town's music... yeah, I don't want to talk about it.

The movie Childs Play tore me up when I was younger. Seeing Chucky, a doll jut come alive like that with a knife and just..I was being forced to watch it too, so that's even worse. There's also this game called Thief. It like a first person stealth game. The second level has you facing zombies. I normally don't have a problem with this because I've played stuff like Left 4 Dead and stuff, and it doesn't phase me. The thing with Thief is that the body lies on the floor and it doesn't get up until you're RIGHT in front of it. And it gets up damn fast. Other bodies don't even get up at all. Some are already up and turn corners on you and such. I've never been able to finish Thief because of that. I know, it sounds pathetic, but it pretty much scared me out of it. I may go back to it later though, to try again.
