This was named Sonic & Tails 2 in Japan, just like Sonic Chaos was called Sonic & Tails there. The story involves yet another world domination plan by Eggman, only this time (like in Sonic 3), he has the help of Knuckles, that god-darn red fool! That 'trusty' echidna nabbed all the Chaos Emeralds and has legged it. Sonic, not too happy, chases after Knuckles, with Tails close behind.
On top of this, Eggman got some help from Nack the Weasel (or Fang the Sniper in Japan). He keeps guard of the Emeralds, making sure Sonic and Tails won't get to them, while Knuckles will just try to stop them advancing. Eggman must be a happy boy. Not for long though. Can Sonic boil the rotten egg again? We will see...
Tips & Cheats
Level Select: Hold Up while turning on the Game Gear. On the intro screen, press Start the moment Knuckles picks up the third gem. Select your character and then you can choose your starting level.
Sound Test: When the title screen appears, press and hold Buttons 1, 2 and Up on the direction pad at the same time. You'll hear a chime. You'll notice that the 'Press Start' banner has changed to 'Sound Test'. Press Start to enter. Once in press Start to return to the title screen.
Secret Time Attack Stage: Just like the sound test, hold Buttons 1, 2 and Up on the D-Pad simultaneously. You'll hear a chime. The 'Press Start' banner will change to 'Sound Test'. Press 1, 2 and Up again at the same time to change the banner this time to 'Time Attack'. Press Start to select this and choose your character. This is a special level, with the 'Great Turquoise' background but featuring the rollercoasters, as seen in 'Sunset Park'. Once you clear the level, the title screen will show again. Be careful, pressing 1, 2 and Up at the same time three times in succession will just change the banner back to 'Press Start'.
Rings Galore: On Sunset Park Zone Act 2, climb up as far as possible after the rollercoaster ride at the start. Head right and fall through the first exploding bridge into an area with nearly 200 rings.
